One of the objectives of the Great Ethiopian Run is to introduce mass-participation running events throughout Ethiopia. In addition to its annual international 10km road race and women's-only 5km race, Great Ethiopian Run stages many other mass-participation road races in different parts of Ethiopia.
Two upcoming races are the Europe Day Races and the 'Clean and Green' Half Marathon in Nazreth as follows:
4 May 2008: 2008 Europe Day Races for Schoolchildren
25 May 2008: 'Clean and Green' Nazreth Half-Marathon & Family Run
More details about the Nazreth event are given under the special banner on the right of this page.

Review of Regional Races 2004-2007
Over the past three years Great Ethiopian Run has staged ten regional races throughout Ethiopia. Five of these (in Dire Dawa, Mekelle, Awassa, Bahir Dar and Nazreth) took place in the first half of 2007 and formed part of the 2007 Great Ethiopian Run AIDS Series. Races have also been staged in Soddo and Wolkitay, as well as earlier races in Mekelle, Bahir Dar and Nazreth. The focus of these races has been on public health messages such as Mossy Foot Prevention (Soddo, 2005) and Trachoma Prevention (Wolkitay, 2006).
In addition to the regional races, Great Ethiopian Run stages two other annual road race competitions in Addis Ababa: the Ring Road Relay for organisations and the Europe Day Races for schoolchildren.
Please note: the Upcoming Races section will carry more news about these races as they draw near.
